    During the colonial times in America, the labor force was in abundance. The laborers were consisted of both the European settlers and the African slaves. Most of the economy was based around the agriculture, so most of the people were farmers in this period. The poorer and middle class people were working on their lands alone, or were payed to work on the farmlands of the richer people. The richer people though preferred to buy African slaves, and the reason for that was that after the initial cost of paying to get possession of them, there were no costs for them apart from giving them food.
