The condition of the steerage was not good and very hygienic, the travelers on the steerage got sick.
Explanation:
Steerage is the part of the ship given to the travelers who cannot afford to travel in the higher class of the ship which is the cheapest part of the ship. Since it is the cheapest part, the condition of that portion is not very neat and clean and is unhygienic. Therefore the travelers tend to fall sick and do not feel very comfortable.
