    There were may differences between the two forces.

    Explanation:

    The British army was one of the best armies of the world by the end of the 18th century. It had a lot of experience given constant warfare in Europe, it was very well trained, it had skilled command and leadership, and it was well equipped, though long lines of supply proved to be one the reasons of its defeat. On the other hand, Washington's Continental Army was new and unexperienced in the beginning, it had initial problems of discipline, it didn't have experienced and skilled commanders, and it had inferior firepower and logistics problems until it could secure French support. But they were patriots and fought for a higher cause.
