    1. Natural Gas - High Plains. The most important gas fields are located in this geographical region of the state, which are Hugoton - Panhandle, and Mocane - Laverne. The first one is also located in adjacent states of Texas and Kansas and both fields belong to Anadarko Basin, geological deposit that produces the largest amount of natural gas in the United States. 2. Coal - Prairie Plans. Heavy coal production comes from underground mining in Coal, Pittsburg, Latimer, Haskell, and LeFlore counties. From last two decades of past century through our time, strip mining has prevailed, primarily in Rogers, Nowata, and Craig counties. 3. Granite - Arbuckle Mountains. This ancient mountain range contains a high diverse suite of mineral resources: granite, dolomite, limestone, glass sand, sand and gravel, shale, lead, zinc, tar sands, and also oil and gas.
