What differences in the motivation of colonization of the southern and new England colonies

    The southern settlers generally had interests in the economic value of the region which meant that the early settlers established plantations, generally tobacco and rice. The New England settlers were focused on finding religious liberty. As a result of poor farmland a lot of the settlers started businesses.
