    Explanation:

    Moctezuma II (1466 - 1520) was a Mexican emperor, that was imprisoned by Cortéz, a Spanish conquistador. In 1519, Cortéz entered the capital, Tenochtitlán, while Moctezuma warmly greeted him. However, Cortéz was afraid that people would eventually rebel against him, and therefore seized Moctezuma.

    Moctezuma's people were ordered to collect gold for Cortéz and obey their new ruler. Cortéz gradually achieved religious conversion in Mexico and assumed dominance.
