What resulted in a stalemate on the western front ww1?

    During the Race to the Sea, the main target of Germany was not to take over France but to take over Russia. Germany decided that they should take hold of Paris before capturing Russia. However, because of this move, the Allied Force was able to take hold of both sides of the territory making it more difficult to achieve their goal of getting hold of Russia. This event had lead to stalemate in the Western Front during the World War I
