Which Act is being described? In 1765, this act placed a direct tax on paper products in the colonies, such as newspapers and pamphlets. The colonists were outraged and reacted by setting fires, rioting, and holding debates. A secret organization known as the Sons of Liberty formed to protest this new tax.
