Given that between 1876 and 1892 no president won more and 50% of the popular vote, what effect did this have on politic and governance

    The government after the election of 1876 became highly inefficient and corrupt due to the very fact that none of the presidents was winning through fair means.

    No president after once selected was re-elected during the whole period due to their inefficiency and lack of steps taken toward any betterment of civilians.

    Once a president was elected, his whole tenure use to go into paying back his favor and managing all of the people who have elected him for tenure. The wealthy had direct access to government, they had access to control the economy in order to represent their interests and desires.
