What is the advantage of protesting nonviolently rather than by using force? What are the disadvantages?

Advantage means no revenge just, and right for nonviolent resistance. Totally thinking above, there are two side's opinions here; so that we must stand on both sides on thinking of advantages or disadvantages. If the black people could not put up with white people's action, it would be terrible
