What were the main factors fueling European expansion in the 16th and 17th centuries?

    The main factors were things such as wars, in which people didn't want to participate. Crime was also important because people would run away to avoid prosecution. Religious freedom also since many believers of various religions would be prosecuted and charged with heresy and infidelity. Many also wanted to gain wealth by traveling to the new world. These are the main factors.
