The south was unable to create an army of its own because: nothing united the southern states like the northern union. all the great military leaders were in the north. there were no military schools in the south. each state wanted to keep a military of its own.

    The answer would be the first one. This is because the South is composed of slave owners and slaves. The slave owners are afraid that these slaves would rebel against them considering the North is aiming for a slave-free country.
