What is the difference between the Torah and the Talmud?

The Torah describes the basic laws of Judaism; the Talmud is a collection of opinions on legal issues.

    Torah primarily refers to the first section of the tanakh-the first five books of the hebrew bible, but the term is sometimes also used in the general sense also include both of Judaism's written law amd oral law.
