If you mean was Isaac Newton a deist, I don't think you could say that he was, although he wouldn't disagree with much of what the deists said about things. He had a very complex theology as he was not a simple man, nor were his ideas simple.
Deism is the belief in a Supreme Being that is the creator of the universe and its chief engineer, but He does not interfere in the affairs of men.
Deism sees the world in mechanical terms. Once Newton published his works on gravity, his revolutionary views of how gravity interacts between planets and their satellites was immediately taken up by the deists. It was proof positive that there was order in the Universe - - great order, but no evidence or need for interaction with Mankind.
