How did Americans feel about the war? Who supported it and who didn't?

Ameircans didn't want war, simply because they were still building as a nation and didn't want to be involved. The only reason they went into war, was because they were attacked and forced in both wars (WW1 and WW2) so no one really supported it. That's why many people fled to America when wars would first break out.
