The Centennial Accord was an attempt to improve relationships between the tribes and the state government. The U. S. government tried to be respectful of tribal sovereignty and its form of government. The purpose was to have annual meetings between tribal representatives and U. S. authorities to discuss issues in the relationship such as problems, solutions and a permanent progress in the relationship.
