What do you think the purpose of Hammurabi's Code was? Why was code written that way? What did they serve?

    1) he was concerned with keeping order in his kingdom. it was somewhat of a Constitution/Bible/Commandments. it contained laws for living in society as well as living as a family, being loyal, faithful and lawful

    2) When he started ruling the city/state of Babylon, he only ruled about 50 miles of territory. As he conquered other city/states and his empire grew, he saw the need to unify the various groups he controlled.

    3) they served the purpose of a lawful society
