Life is different now with relationships between the two countries and Portugal. Although Mozambique gained independence on June 25, 1975, their ancestors still have feeling of hostility towards the Portuguese and the same for ancestors of India ("Vasco Da Gama - A Portuguese Explorer"). However, in Goa and the city of Cochin, they show the cultural influence of the Portuguese. This is because some people during the colonization, started following Christianity. Nowadays, Christianity is one of the major religions in Goa ("Religion in Goa").
