Which type of government is most similar to a republic?

    Put simply, a republic is a country that is not led by a monarch. Where the people (or at least a some of people) have impact on government by voting, holding office, etc. Republic comes from latin: res publica, which means "public thing" or "public matter".

    Examples would be France, Ancient Rome, the United States, Turkey.
