His opponents ridiculed him for his diplomatic gaffes and called him an "uneducated cowboy". In contrast, he was responsible for one of the most expressive highs in the American economy and left the government with more than sixty percent popularity.
After pursuing an artistic career in Hollywood studios, starring in bang-bang films, Reagan entered political life for the Democratic party. In a short time he reversed his political orientation by joining the Republican wing. After managing to be elected twice as governor of California, Reagan arrived at the White House in the early 1980s.
