The Olmec flourished from food surpluses mostly created by great amounts of wildlife and agriculture that flourished amongst the rivers of the lower tropical Mesoamerican area in which the Olmec inhabited. Environmental Determinists believe that the greatest contributing factor to the rise or fall of a civilization is caused by its environmental assets, i. e, crops, climate, soil land, etc.
