Leonardo da Vinci moved to Milan from Florence in 1482 for the purpose being able to work with Ludovico Sforza, who was Milans ruler at the time. Leonardo was a famed inventor, designer and painter at the time, and Milan being a notable region in Italy for militarism granted him the ability to work on military designs. This included one of the earliest designs of the tank as well as chariot designs. While these designs did not come into fruition physically, they proved influential for future designs in military technological innovation. He also made strong contributions towards anatomy research as well during these times. Some of his sketches and journals about human anatomy research are the most complex before modern times.
