Revivalism arose in many respects as opposed to the transformation of Christianity into a purely moral teaching under the influence of the ideology of the Enlightenment.

There are the following principles of Revivalism:

    1. The Infallibility of Scripture.

    2. The divine origin of Christ and his immaculate conception.

    3. The death of Christ on the cross for sinners ("atonement by substitution").

    4. The physical resurrection and second coming of Christ.

The main feature of Revivalism is the emphasis on experiencing a personal meeting with God and the approaching Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

The main features of Revivalism are the preaching of spiritual rebirth, emotionality, exaltation of liturgical gatherings, appeal to personal religious experience as opposed to tradition, established form of worship and other practices.
