Adelaide Labille - Guiard was a famous painter born in April 1749. Her work Self Portrait with Two Pupils finished in 1785 achieved a place in the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture, in a time where only four places were reserved to women. The painting of the Adelaide shows herself and two female students behind her and it has been interpreted as a way to ask for more places for women in the Academy.
