The eisenhower years ... was america ready for a republican again?

    The Eisenhower years saw increased prosperity in the USA, and most importantly conservative thoughts and and a largely peaceful society despite the pangs of the cold war. This could have given his republican predecessor a republican ticket without a lot of hassle. But the society was feeling more needed needed to be done about the cold war, civil rights, and welfare of the average person, and the democrats were best suited.
