He argues by establishing that there are Real Reasons which are intuitive and compelling in humans. These reasons make people to stand out in a particular society. They are the qualities that drives an individual to venture into the unknown and make a breakthrough. Similarly, space programs are also motivated by Real Reasons and just not for for economic gains. Though most people think that space programs have no real purpose, Griffin argues that it has it has contributed to America's greatness in the world both in terms of value and Accepted Reasons which are economic benefit, scientific discovery, and national security.
