How did the states continue to struggle with unity after independence

    Soon after independence, the states drafted and ratified the Articles of Confederation. One of the big problems with this document is that it required a 100% agreement on the part of the colonies to ratify or approve any sort of legislation. This led to a number of disagreements over economics and how to handle laws at the beginning of the nation, with very little being done overall.
