The geographic features that supported a productive trade for Russian civilization were Volga and Dnieper Rivers.

The Volga river is the national river of Russia. It is the longest in Europe and the largest in drainage. It goes all through central Russia and ends into the Caspian Sea. Some of the largest reservoirs are located along the Volga and give hydroelectric power as well as irrigation.

The Dnieper River is one of the most important rivers in Europe. It flows through Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine (where it is considered to be the longest) into the Black Sea.

Both Dnieper and Volga river are an important navigable way for the economy of those countries who are affected by them.
