The army of the Northern Virginia led by commander Robert. Lee stopped at the town of Amelia's Courthouse after moving away from Richmond to await for supplies. At the moment he was moving the army into the Union territory. This made Meade's Army to track him for fear that he had won his past six encounters with them.
