In lecture the argument was made that the history of civilization is neither "Eastern" nor "Western." A global perspective on the history of civilization reveals a long history of interconnection, trade and cultural exchange that from the beginning shaped the formation of civilization itself.

    Civilization is a complex society which hinges on creating Agricultural surplus, indirectly allowing a people to congregate around certain areas with favourable conditions, indirectly allowing for specialized labour, social hierarchy and establishment of well secured cities creating trade practices for unavailable tools and products, religious practice to foster loyalty amongst them; all this activities are interconnected social structures which make civilization neither eastern or western.
