Did Lincoln's speech leave alternatives to war, or was the tragedy that followed essentially inevitable?

    I believe the war was inevitable.

    At that time, having slaves were considered a normal norm. The majority of southern states economy was built on the foundation of slave labor.

    Even if we set aside the morality factors, The southern people aware that eliminating slavery would force the southern states into economic crisis.

    so, the only way for our country to eliminate the slavery is through force.
