The main reason that the United States adopted policies to stop the spread of communism around the world was to contain the influence of Russian communism in Eastern Europe, China, korea, Africa, Vietnam and Latin America.

This tension between Russia and USA led to Cold War between Russia and America.

USA developed The Marshall Plan to financially aid the countries where Russia tried to spread communism thinking they were poor countries.
