    There were many ways that the South African Government would discriminate against nonwhite chains. They would force them to do work that the government deemed them capable of, rather than letting them choose what they would do. They wouldn't let them live where they worked or live in certain areas because they weren't born there. They couldn't own their own land and were forced to live in rented houses. They weren't allowed to be part of the general population and had a curfew. Most of all, they didn't have equal political rights.
