Which philosophy emerged from the Hellenistic age and urged people to live by high moral standards?

    Stoicism preached high moral standards, fairly pacifist, egalitarian, and humanitarian for the time. This school of thought taught that virtue was the highest good and was based on knowledge. The more knowledge one had, the more indifferent to both pleasure and pain.
