What economic power did the national government have under the Articles of Confederation?

    Answer: Very little

    Explanation: The Articles of Confederation were purposely restrictive in terms of governmental power. They were written right after the American War for Independence. This contributed directly to the lack of power given to the government. They had just fought what they believed to be an oppressive tyrannical government in England and they did not want a repeat. An example of the lack of power in the Articles is that taxation was impossible by the government.
