Read this passage: As a registered Republican, I'm happy with this system - it keeps registered Democrats from voting in our primary to try to choose a weak candidate. At the same time, though, I like that independent voters are allowed to participate. This gives us a chance to encourage them to join the Republican Party. What system for selecting party nominees does the passage describe?

The correct answer is mixed primary

A primary vote is when a party votes on who will be their presidential candidate in the coming elections. In a mixed primary, people who aren't party members can also vote if they support the republican party. Democrats are not allowed in this voting because they vote in their own primaries and choose their own representative.
