When groups with different languages have constant interaction within a given space,

1. one of the languages becomes the new language of both.

2. a new language is created out of the two languages.

3. the groups go to war because they can't communicate.

4. the groups each maintain their own language.

    I am not sure but my guess is most likely between 1. and 2.
