    By signing in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, the Mexican-American war formally ended. The United States gained additional 525,000 sq. miles territory which composed of land that makes up parts of present-day New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, Nevada, California, and Utah.
