How did the competition between the superpowers lead to the Cold War

    The United States and the Soviet union were fighting for different reasons. The United States wanted to protect their democracy, because they feared Communism. They wanted to contain communism and prevent it from spreading to other countries. The Soviet Union did not want America to attack them, and they also wanted to spread communism.
