    Explanation:

    The New jersey plan was written by William Paterson. This plan represented the less populated states and supported the idea to give equal representation to each state in the the government. According to it population shouldn't be a cause for discrimination among states. While the Virginia plan was drafted by James Madison. It proposed a government having two branches with equal power. It also proposed that states with larger population should have more representatives while the states with small population should have few representatives. Both the plans dealt with the issue that how power should be shared between the state and federal government.
