To what extent was the Mexican War a "justifiable" war and not simply an excuse perpetrated upon both the American and Mexican people in order to seize land from a weak neighbor

    The main justification for the war against Mexico comes from "Manifest Destiny", the belife that God wanted the United States to expand from one ocean to the other, to spread democracy, freedom and western values across the continent. It was a sense of "mission" that the American settlers had in the middle of the XIX century.
