The First Political Parties were formed mainly in response to disagreements over the extent of the federal government's power.

    Explanation:

Initially, there were no parties in U. S. history. Factions formed because of the famous personalities such as Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.

Jefferson opposed Hamilton for having a broad vision of the strong central government. Sooner, Madison (father of constitution who formulated 10 Amendments) also joined Jefferson.

Madison and Jefferson along together opposed Hamilton and George Washington, since they called to revise the old constitution. This made Jefferson lead an Anti-Administration party against them.

Later it developed into a Democratic-Republic party led by Jefferson and Madison, and the Federalists party by Hamilton and Washington.
