In the 1930s, what caused Canada to respond by raising its tax on goods imported from the United States?

    During this time it was the "Hawley-Smoot Tariff" Act that caused Canada to respond by raising its tax on goods imported from the United States, since this limited the number of goods that Canada could export to the US.
