The goal of the treaty of Versailles was to make Germany pay for the war and be the blame for WW1.

For the most part, the overall goal for the Entente was to weaken Germany by reducing their military size and economy and having the Rheinland (eastern german area) demilitarized. Keep in mind that before the Treaty was signed the US, UK, and France had different views on how they wanted to punish Germany and the rest of the Central Powers.
