Many people moved to California because they had received news that people have discovered gold in the West; California. This also being known as the Gold Rush, it caused many people to pack up their things and move to California in hopes of gaining riches and being able to greatly support themselves, their families, and maybe get the honor of being known as one of the richest in the world.
