Akbar the Great was a Muslim Emperor of India and he was known for his policy of religious tolerance and appreciation for the arts.

Borne on 15th October 1542 in Umarkot, India, Akbar the Great was enthroned as a Mughal ruler of India at the age of 14 after his father's death. He was a direct descendant of Ghengis Khan and his grandfather, Babur, was the first emperor of the Mughal dynasty.

He was known for his policy of religious tolerance because he did not force the Hindu people under his empire to convert to Islam. He, instead, showed his respect to their religion by abolishing poll taxes imposed on non-Muslims and participating in Hindu festivals.

His fair treatment to everyone especially to those whom he conquered when expanding his empire generated loyalty among his people for him.
