This happened as a consequence of the explosion between 1926 and 1928 of the real estate bubble caused by the Florida Land Boom of the 1920s, as a consequence of a series of hurricanes that affected the peninsula in those years and made investors who were building large projects in Miami and surrounding areas will withdraw from the market. This situation, added to the beginning of the Great Depression, caused the state's real estate prices to collapse.
