Identify some of the things that the writers of the Constitution wanted and did not want as they met at the Constitutional Convention.

    The Constitutional Convention took place from May 25 to September 17, 1787, in the old Pennsylvania State House in Philadelphia.

    The Convention reviewed the league of states and first system of government under the Articles of Confederation. However, the intention of many of its proponents, mainly James Madison of Virginia and Alexander Hamilton of New York, was to create a new government rather than mend the existing one.

    The framers wanted to make sure that the new nation and its citizens would be free from tyranny. They wanted a constitution that would protect the people from a government that was too powerful and from the autocratic rule of kings. They didn't want the wishes of the people to be denied by a powerful leader
