How did the farmers living in the northwest territory get their crops to the east coast?

    They used waterways such as canals and rivers to float the crops toward the east coast. They also used newly built railroads such as the Santa Fe, the Atchison Topeka, and the Atlantic and Pacific, to move the crops.
