In what was sharecropping an advanced over slavery for black freedmen, and in what ways sharecropping similar to slavery?

It was positive insofar that the people were free and didn't have to work if they disliked it or didn't want to. It was similar to slavery in that the land was mostly owned by rich white men and the workers were black and if the owner of the land disliked anything he could kick them out or he could ask for larger percentage of the crops.
